Pillow talk..

Finding the perfect comfy, soft, but not too soft pillow has been quite a task! I have been looking ever since my flat pancake pillow started giving me headaches ( it has been a whole year now).. I have been all over you name it... from fine department stores to places like Ross.. I have even gone on the inter net researching and reading reviews. And not one pillow I have purchased has been THE ONE! I have been through quite a few pillows let me tell you...

A couple of weeks ago, I walked into Bed Bath and Beyond thinking I was going to buy a touch-less stainless steel trash can, and instead I walk out with this pillow. It's a Cloud pillow from Tempur-pedic and quite pricey at $129.00. I bought thinking It would change my life forever... Well, it hasn't! I am now waking up with a sore neck!! I guess when you go from pancake flat to just a little height you feel your head so elevated you almost feel your head in the clouds. (maybe that is why they named it Cloud pillow)

I feel awful about returning it, so I am just going to have to sleep with it! Someone on the review said that after multiple uses it wears and becomes a little flatter. I can't wait!! Meanwhile does anyone have a bowling ball I can borrow to flatten it? What type of pillow do you sleep with or recommend?

  1. All pillows eventually go flat with use. I prefer to buy my pillows at JCPenney's because they tend to stay puffier longer and I change them out once a year.

    1. That's nice to know! What brand at JcPennys do you like?

    2. I don't remember the brand, just that the pillows are blue and white striped.

  2. Pillows are so tough. I love a feather squishy one..hubs likes his firm and they don't look good on your bed together! So we each get two and that way when you make the bed it's even. I would take it back...$129 is entirely too much to pay for something you don't like.

  3. Yes, that is what I am thinking about doing...

  4. I like Martha Stewart pillows. They are just right for me from day one. I would take it back too. That's a lot of money to pay for something you don't like.

  5. Hi Marissa, thank you for stopping by at my place and for word wonderful comment....pillows are tough we got our at Macy I think a memory foam one and a regular one as the base.. It think we use gift cards to buy them....well my hubby hates his, says it makes him sweat (yikes...tmi?) so he uses the basic one for the top....I don't but it is quit high and puffy still after 2 years so I let it fall and lean it on the bottom one. That seems to help a lot. If you are not happy i would return it....good luck!

  6. We got two expensive pillows when we got our king size bed. They live under our bed. We both hated them.

  7. Now that's one expensive pillow and I have the same problems. I would return it if its not the right one. Let them know that the pillows are not that great.
I just pick up a better one at Walmart, firm for sure and we just replace them more often. I used to have one that I dearly loved and you can't find them anymore. It had shredded foam in it and it fluffed up new every time. I tried one of those wheat pillows, but the nose kept me awake!
I would find 2 different ones and then flipped them and see how it goes. I need more height if I sleep on my side, but not if I sleep on my tummy.

  8. Marissa! 129.00 for a pillow? forget the pillow have a stiff glass of wine before bed that will really make for a good night sleep! well I found that after staying at La Quinta hotel one night I had an awesome night I just had to check inside the pillow case. It was a xtra firm feather dwn pillow. I loved it. Went to Jc Penny and found the same pillow for around 100.00 on sale for half price. Will never go back to anything else. 9. Marissa, I do hope that you will return that pillow so you can have a good night's rest without a "pain in the neck". I have yet to find a pillow that I love so I am still searching. Just like in Goldy Locks and Three Bears, I've had "to hard"..."to soft" and I am still looking for "just right" :)

  10. Oh no that was pricey! I usually just buy my pillows at Penney's or Kmart etc. Hard to believe but I STILL sleep on the same pillow from my childhood...yikes, but I change out the cover frequently. Oh how I would miss it!

  11. Hi Ann!! That is nice that you still have your childhood pillow!!! I think that is amazing!

  12. Hi Marissa,

I have been sleeping (trading off) 2 pillows. One is a Premium Pillow, that you purchase based upon your size, from (www.mypillow.com) that I paid $90 for and the other is a SensorGel Bedding, Gusset Foam Pillow from Macy's for $60. I like them both, for different reasons. I can't say that I like one better than the other. They are sooooooooo much better than any other pillow I have ever owned and at age 63, I've had lots of pillows!!! They're alot better than the Temperpedic pillow I used to have. Good luck with any further pillow hunting you do.

    Thanks for your visit today!

  13. I'm with you Marissa. Getting the right pillow is a must for me! I sometimes bring my own pillow. If it is too high, I have a stiff neck. We got ours at the Sleep train. I will check out the name. It's perfect. I wish you live near by too. Where do you live exactly?

  14. Sleep train.. I need to check it out... I live in Weslaco, Tx.. near the Mexican border.. I am going to return it and keep looking...

  15. Hi there, I understand the issue with pillows-have your tried down? I use foam rubber because I have allergies; however I have heard the sleep train pillows are really good. I would just wait and see if it gets more compact. Also, I used to sleep on two pillows but my hubby's chiropractor said that is really bad for your neck.
    Hope something works. Hugs, Noreen

  16. I LOVe my pillow but it took me ages to find just the right one - incidentally it is a down pillow and quite squashy - I can mould it to how I want it!
I bought another expensive orthopedic one as I have a tricky neck following a car accident a long time ago - it made my neck ache just like yours did..
It's a mission - good luck Marissa and let us know when you finally find the right one.

  17. Hello, I got myself one at the chiropractor's office. You fill it with water! That way, you adjust it for yourself. I have not changed since I got it! I love it! I haven't looked online, but I bet you can find one even cheaper than the seventy dollars I gave for mine. I hope this helps you.

  18. Oh Marissa you crack me up you don't need a bowling ball just use my steroid head lol but that doesn't work either believe me I've tried it ha! I did the sane thing last year purchasing two of the exact same pillows thinking it would help and get me comfy other than the flat as a pancake pillow and the hubs a week later said what did you do to me hahahaha and u sware when I sleep in it I still get a stiff neck and so I'm back to my pancake pillow and I have noticed the hubs is too and it seems our cats are quite fond of thirty new one hundred and something cat beds hahahaha! Good luck girlie and if you find that pillow do tell I need one too lol!

  20. I think buying pillows is a hard thing to do. Kind of like the three bears one is too soft, one too hard and hard to find the one that is just right!!!! Hope this pillow improves with use… Have a great weekend, Laura

  21. I discovered the same thing that you're discovering. It isn't about the price so much. I am currently using a goose down pillow that can be molded to suit my preference...it was not the priciest one either. Good luck with sleeping...I used to have three or four pillows and I rotated them all night long. I felt like a juggler. Hope that you find something that works very well for you. (I'd not feel bad about returning the pillow as it is NOT working for you and it must have some sort of guarantee.)
