Back-yard make-over Part 2

Although I'm not done, I wanted to share some of the pictures of the landscaping I have done.  I can't wait for these trees and bushes to grow. I still want to add a water feature somewhere, more plants and perhaps some type of brick edging or pavers.  But, I had to stop.  With triple digit temperatures there is no way I could continue.

Believe me when I say It's been HOT and DRY here.

And keeping the grass from getting crunchy has been a challenge.

My water bill is ginormous I cringe every time I see it

I pray for rain daily.
at this point a weak tropical depression would be nice.
This project will just have to wait till the fall...

To be continued....

  1. I know what you mean about hot! I was down there this weekend visiting my sister in Edinburg and it's hot. But then it's hot in San Antonio too. I got to visit the La Lomita chapel. Saw it in one of your post and fell in love with it. Took some pictures. Your yard looks beautiful.

    1. It could be ants. All our blooms were beginning to fall we took a loser look and found it was ants .... We had to spray ..

  4. It looks wonderful and must have been a lot of work. Is that area on some sort of irrigation or do you have to handwater? Praying with you for some gentle rain.

  5. Everything is looking beautiful! Marissa, you need mulch!! Please believe me! I have mulch under all my trees! When you mulch, it holds the water, so you can water 50% less! It's worth it!
Yes, birds love sunflowers ;o) That's where sunflower seeds come from ;o)
Big Hugs and I hope your other tree is ok?

    1. Marissa, you said you had ants. Where they eating your flowers or just there? Some trees, like Rose Of Sharon, need the ants. Just to let you know ;o)

  8. Hi Marissa,

I hear you loud and clear we had a whole week of triple digits, dry grass, thirsty flowers, and moody folks...who me? Anyway, all that changed and for the past three days we've had very strong wind storms. Your backyard makeover is looking great; keep calm, and wait for the temps to go down!
