I pulled off decorating my mantel without spending one dime. Thank goodness! I used what I had from last year and tried my best to make it look warm and fall-ish even though our temperatures still remain in the upper 80s.. You might remember these white pumpkins from last years fall table. I am so glad I bought them! I may just glitter them up for next year who knows ...
To be honest fall decorating really is not on my mind these days..
As you already know, we are adopting a baby and its getting closer and closer. We have already painted the nursery twice. Yes, twice and what a chore! I don't think I want to see paint or anything related to paint for a long time. When we bought this house the room was a deep purple you could not help but squint when you entered the room so, I softened it up with a raspberry pink, but changed my mind after thinking that birth mother could change her mind. I don't want to end up getting stuck with a pink room so, we repainted once again to a powdery yellow. It will just have to stay that way regardless of what happens!
I am staying positive and praying for the best. I truly believe God will place this baby where she belongs if not with us then with her birth mom. Either way I am grateful God is good!

Love your fall mantle and you can glitz up those pumpkins with bath salts. Saw where someone did that on facebook yesterday and it looked awesome and I would imagine smells pretty, too.
ReplyDeletePraying that the mom doesn't change her mind and that you get this baby. November is coming quickly.
Thanks Tete.. never heard of the bath salts used on pumpkins sounds neat. I need to look into that.. Thanks again for your prayers.

DeleteI am keeping you in my positive thoughts for the adoption. My nephew and his wife adopted a little baby girl to add to their family of one birth son. It's been such a wonderful experience for them that they're working on their second adoption. Good luck! ((hugs)), Teresa :-)
ReplyDeleteThank you Teresa. We can hardly believe this is happening :)
DeleteI have 3 friends right now that are adopting. 2 with birth mothers and 1 from Ethiopia. Praying the best for all of you
ReplyDeleteWow that is amazing!...what a blessing...Thank you Daniela~
DeleteYour fall mantlepiece is lovely, In New Zealand we don't tend to decorate with the seasons, only at Christmas, so it is really interesting to see what people do in other parts of the world.
ReplyDeleteKeeping you in my prayers for your baby plans, like you I believe God will put this little person in the best possible place.
blessings,
Diana
Thanks Diana ~ I only decorate for fall & Christmas..it would be way too much for me to do it every season..the rest of the year it just has a topiary and some sort of fern..thanks for your prayers!
DeletePraying for you and your family and hoping that there will be no changes of mind. Your attitude of openness is a healthful one. I can only imagine the butterflies! Powdery yellow sounds perfect!

DeleteI love your Fall mantel. I'm a big fan of white pumpkins too. I will be thinking of you during this adoption journey. I hope that everything will work out for you. It sounds like you're ready to give a baby a loving home. I don't blame you for painting the nursery in a non gender specific color either. One less thing to worry about right?!
ReplyDeleteexactly kelly one thing less to worry about is for sure!! Thanks so much!!

ReplyDeleteI think your mantle is gorgeous ~ I'm kind of envious of your weather in the 80's, summer was much too short here this year, as least so it seems. (I'm happy to say I'm your most recent follower.) Cheers!
Thanks so much !

You have such an amazing outlook of the adoption. I do hope the baby gets to come home to you, but you are right, either way the baby will end up where God wants her to be. And I love that mantel. Once again, I have mantel envy.

Marissa, thank you so much for your nice comment today on my blog because it led me to look for yours on my blogroll and I couldn't believe how far down it was and that I had failed to visit this. I do take several days a week off at a time and this must have been during that time. But your fall mantel is beautiful! And even more beautiful the news that you are preparing for this wonderful new future. I admire and respect your sweet acceptance of whatever God's will is for this child, but oh, I hope that she will know the joy of having you for a mother.
