This past week we got a new roof and lots and lots of
POUNDING!
5 days of pounding to be
exact.
I seriously was waiting for a guy to fall though
my living room.
I really felt bad for these men working in 100* plus weather.
I gave one guy my husbands t-shirt cause he was wearing a sweater. Yes, a sweater!
and this guy with a wonderful smile had his truck with his trailer parked in my back-yard and
another trailer on the side of my house for
5 days.
My grass is now in recovery.
But my roof now looks newer, fresher and cleaner.
so, I won't complain.
new roofs are just the worst...and yet the best. Love the happy face of that cute man! So glad you got THAT part done!!!
ReplyDeleteI am glad too... Its a big job.
Deleteoh, hooray for you! but, yes, what a mess and noise! bless those workers in that horrendous heat - on tar paper in the texas summer!
ReplyDeleteIts been a HOT summer and yes bless those workers..
DeleteGlad you're happy with it - it looks wonderful!! Thanks for visiting!
ReplyDeleteHi Marissa, I totally understand how long that banging can last-we had a new roof five years ago and now we need a new one due to the severe hail storm we had two weeks ago. I'm so thankful for home owners insurance. I remember how hard it was to live when they were putting the roof on. Glad yours went well.
ReplyDeleteHugs today.
Noreen
Whew, that banging CAN get on your nerves, but your new roof looks great!! Always worth it in the end. =) blessings ~ tanna
ReplyDeleteIt's really hard to work on the roof when the sun is at its peak. But the crew that you got there are already experts when it comes to roofing project like this. I'm pretty sure that they're used to that kind of weather. You see, they even managed to smile despite the fatigue. Well, you got a great result! It simply proves that you hired the right people for the job. Congrats on your new roof! :)

Thank you so much Conner.
DeleteLooks lovely, Marissa! Love the brick on your exterior, so pretty!
ReplyDeletePoppy
Thank you Poppy..
DeleteAll smiles even while working on your roof! A roofing job isn't an easy one, but seeing that one of your contractors smile like that, assures you that he enjoys his job. Anyway, your new roof made your entire house look polished and fresh. Good job to your roofers!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much Kemberly...I am so happy with it.. and just in time for hurricane season...
DeleteWow, what a crew! That's hard work. It's better to replace the roof now, than later when Winter comes. The brick is quite lovely. xo Linda
ReplyDeleteThanks Linda.. I actually don't really like our brick.. wish it were white.. LOL
DeleteLooks good Marissa you must be thrilled it is done and finished...Home renovations are the worse ....but the outcome are the best just have to get through it first...I get hives before our spring planting, and setting up our yard for the summer!!!!
ReplyDeleteOh I can't wait till the fall. I wish I could go plant a new bush or flower but, it is way to HOT!! Thanks Marisa Xo
DeleteThat guy is so cute! I love his smile! Beautiful new roof! Isn't construction fun! Not! LOL! But, it's worth it in the end ;o) I hope things have cooled down for you!
ReplyDeleteIt is so worth it!!! Thank you Stacy.
Delete5 days? hope your ears are now recovering. New roofs are the best
ReplyDeleteDaniela they make all the difference...
DeleteHey Marissa ;o) You are adopting a baby??? Wow!! I am so happy for you! Congrats! Yes, I do have an Etsy shop. My store is listed on the right hand side of my blog, but here is my link too ;o) http://www.etsy.com/shop/MagicLoveCrow
ReplyDeleteDo you know if you are getting a boy or girl?
Take Care ;o)
Yes, we are so excited! It will be my next post... I will check out your etsy store
DeleteDon't know why there are so many spaces in my comment? LOL!
ReplyDeleteI can relate to the loud noises of having a roof replaced. We had ours done a few years ago. Isn't it wonderful having a new roof? Makes the house look so much better. That was so nice of you to give that guy a shirt. I'm sure he really appreciated it.
ReplyDeleteYes he sure did appreciate it very much... Its been so Hot here I am glad its almost fall.
DeleteLove the guy with the smile!!! I hate spending money on stuff like roofing, I'd rather it be a new couch or landscaping…..but needed I know. Have a great week, Laura
ReplyDeleteWe had to have our roof replace after a bad hail storm this year. I think our roofers had some musical training because they often kept a pretty good rhythm going. But the downside is I could still hear the hammering in my head at night, long after they were gone for the day!
ReplyDeleteI hear you Melinda... LOL
DeleteMarissa, this is the business we are in! We've had a family roofing business for almost 30 years. It is hard work but it's wonderful to see that you appreciate yours. It is surprising how nice people can be to our men. Many bring out lemonade and cookies or a cake hot out of the oven. Of course since our sons are the foremen I think that's because they're so nice!
ReplyDeleteWow I did not know that Dewena 30 yrs of roofing.. I bet you have some stories...
DeleteHi Marissa, I'm back from camping and am catching up with my favorite blogs. What a challenge to have a new roof put on.. but it looks very nice and will last 30 years or so! I do hope you pop over to see my lake photos. ((hugs)), Teresa :-)
ReplyDeleteI sure will Teresa thanks for stopping by.
DeleteWhat pushed you to replace your roof? And how long did it take before you finally had a replacement? Your new roofing system looks great and efficient. Thanks to your crew! A roofing project like this would surely be fun if you are surrounded with jolly people like them! :)
ReplyDeleteLenore Lung @ Professional Roofing Contractors
My roof had hail damage on one side and that was our motivation plus it looks much cleaner.
DeleteNothing looks so fine as a new roof! I have a six-year-old roof that has seen cleaner days. The guys who did the roofing look like a happy crew!
ReplyDeleteThey were happy.. even though it was 100 and some.
DeleteYou must be so glad it is done finally. When we had ours done last year (wind damage) I about had a nervous breakdown with all the noise.
ReplyDeleteHow nice of you to give one of those men a shirt. And your contractors look a happy group, smiling despite having to stand under the heat of the sun. By the way, they did a good job. Your new roof looks sturdy.
